Aarons generously replaces the playground at Sydney Children’s Hospital
If there is a corner of neglect to be found at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Emergency Department in Randwick then everyone would agree the rundown playground out the back is it.
The equipment is in a right old rusty state, having been neglected for more pressing needs, according to Dr Christopher Webber, Director of the Hospital’s Emergency Medicine Department.
“We’ve focused on a lot of things inside that are clinical things and things within the department for children but this has been a bit of an oversight and we’ve forgotten about [the playground],” he told A Current Affair.

While many businesses are under the financial pump during the COVID-19 crisis, Aaron contacted A Current Affair with a generous offer to make a coronavirus-affected person’s year by making over their backyard for free.
So, we called the Sydney Hospital’s Foundation ahead of its annual Gold Appeal and a plan was set in place to not just help one but thousands of families by giving the tired old playground a much needed overhaul.
“I’ve got a six year old boy and he was premature so I’ve got a little bit of passion for sick kids and when the opportunity presented itself we jumped at it,” Aaron said.
